Integrity
Our Hard Lines
Transparency is not a buzzword; it is our operational framework. We disclose the mechanics of our influence so you can trust our conclusions.
Zero Studio Influence
Our critics are strictly prohibited from accepting travel, lodging, or gifts from film studios or PR agencies. If a reviewer attends a press screening, RatedCinema covers all associated costs to ensure the critique remains untainted by hospitality.
The Editorial Wall
We maintain a total separation between our commercial partnerships and our editorial desk. Our advertising team has zero visibility into review scores or editorial schedules. A film’s presence as a site sponsor has no bearing on its eventual rating.
Disclosure Protocol
While we prefer reviewers with zero personal ties to a production, we recognize that the film industry is interconnected. Any personal or professional relationship between a writer and a cast or crew member will be explicitly disclosed at the top of the review.
"A score is a summary of the argument, not a substitute for the reasoning."
The 5-Point Rubric
How we map cinematic merit
Every film reviewed on RatedCinema is cross-referenced against five technical and artistic pillars. This ensures consistency whether we are covering an avant-garde short or a multi-billion dollar franchise.
Narrative Architecture
Evaluation of screenplay structure, pacing, and thematic cohesion. We look for intent and execution over mere plot mechanics.
Technical Craft
Analysis of cinematography, lighting, sound design, and editing. We value the marriage of aesthetic choice and narrative function.
Performance & Direction
The chemistry of the cast and the clarity of the director's vision. We reward risk-taking and authentic characterization.
Cultural Permanence
Does the work contribute to the cinematic dialogue? We assess if the film has the weight to endure beyond its release window.
The 'Cinema' Quotient
The intangible feeling of seeing a master at work. Does this production utilize the medium of film to its fullest potential?
